Tanzania
World-class classic wildlife safaris

General Overview
Tanzania is one of East Africa’s most diverse and iconic destinations, bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north, Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west, and Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique to the south. To the east, the country opens onto the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, where palm-fringed beaches and historic trading ports reflect centuries of cultural exchange.
Formed in 1964 through the union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar, Tanzania has enjoyed long-standing political stability and is widely regarded as one of Africa’s safest and most welcoming countries. Its cultural identity blends more than 120 ethnic groups with Arab, Persian, Indian, and European influences, particularly evident along the Swahili Coast and on the islands of Zanzibar.
Tanzania is world-renowned for its extraordinary wildlife and classic safari landscapes. The Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebra traverse vast plains in one of nature’s greatest spectacles. Nearby, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area combines breathtaking scenery with exceptional wildlife viewing inside the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera.
Rising dramatically above the plains is Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak and one of the continent’s most celebrated natural landmarks. Its snow-capped summit and varied ecosystems attract trekkers from around the world.
Beyond the northern safari circuit, Tanzania offers remarkable diversity. The remote wilderness of Ruaha National Park and Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve) provides vast, uncrowded landscapes rich in wildlife. Along the coast, coral reefs, turquoise waters, and historic Stone Town in Zanzibar add a cultural and tropical dimension to the Tanzanian experience.
From sweeping savannas and towering mountains to spice-scented islands and ancient trade routes, Tanzania offers an unparalleled blend of wildlife, culture, and natural beauty.
